“Living with Ed” Jay and the Green House or The Perfect Present?

This episode may go down in history as it marked the first National publicity for a start up company that intends to make solar systems available to clients with no system purchase requirements and no installation fees.
Paul and Hala have purchased a house - or should I say “fixer”, in Vencie Beach California and wanted to renovate with environmentally friendly materials. They want to go solar, but are on a shoestring budget and cannot afford to pay cash for a system. If they finance the system, high payments would eat into the budget badly needed for the new addition. Not for the home – Paul and Hala are expecting.
They have learned of a start up company called Citizenre that will install a complete solar system at no charge. The only out of pocket expense is a small deposit of $500-$1000. Once installed, Citizenre will then rent the equipment to the homeowner. The rental fees are, in most cases, covered by the saving from the utility company. Since rental fees are locked in for up to 25 years, Paul and Hala stand to save over $10,000 on electricity using this rent solar option.
Later in the show, Ed and his neighbor Bill Nye, rode bikes over to Jay Leno’s home. Jay shows Ed and Bill the top of his garage and is is covered with solar panels. Jay also shows off sime wind turbines. Sun power during the day and wind power at night, as boasted by Jay.
The show featured a multitude of other enviromentally friendly products from recycled counter tops and light fixtures to insulation made from recycled denim jeans.

I have seen the Nov 5th episode tittled both, “The perfect Present” and “Jay and the Greenhouse”. With either title, this show hit a major league home run for the green team.
